In order to check the IP address on most Brother printers -
1. Hit the Menu button (If there is no menu button, hit an arrow key to begin scrolling settings.
2. Scroll to option 6. NETWORK
3. Select option 1. WIRED LAN
4, Select option 1. TCP/IP
5. Scroll to option 2. IP ADDRESS
Here, a series of 3 digit numbers, separate by periods, will be present. An example of an IP address - 010.018.052.233. Leading zeroes may not be present. If the address reads 000.000.000.000, there is no IP address assigned, and the printer will not work via ethernet cable.
